While Ali is finishing up Pikmin 2 and I'm waiting for Silent Hill 4 (tomorrow) I went to Blockbuster to see what they had. I returned with Street Racing Syndicate simply because they had a large window sticker and I had played pretty much everything else.

So, I'm going to give it a whirl now. *turns on TV*

Geez, finally, after upgrading and customizing my car I'm entering my first race.

Here's the rundown:

You are in a city. You are the driver. You need to earn money to buy better cars and upgrades. You drive around the city going to various icons. One icon is for sanctioned races...official races where you earn money for winning and can wager against the computer. Another icon is for street races where you can challenge another driver in a street race (non-sanctioned) for a wager. Then there are respect point challenges. You earn respect points by doing well in a race.

If you've played PGR on the xbox you'll recognize the respect point system. It's basically kudos. You earn respect points by doing slides, passing other cars, drafting, having a clean run, etc.

There are nitros for your cars and I still have yet to figure out how they refill, other than buying more. Gamefaqs said that it refills when you pass other cars closely or do good things. I'm doing good things and me meter ain't a risin'. So that's still a mystery.

What it comes down to is that the actual racing is fairly crappy. Having been spoiled by PGR's amazing physics and flow, SRS just doesn't feel right.

There are a ton of cars and they are highly customizable. If you're looking to buy a car and you want to see it tricked out, this would be a good rental. Anyway, I'm driving a VW Golf GTi that is mega-tricked out performance-wise. It has 451 horsepower. I changed to BF goodrich tires and lost all sorts of handling. Must switch back to yokohamas.

It's a so-so game.
